Take The Risk Or Lose The Chance.
Taking a risk towards an unknown can be scary but so is not taking the risk and losing the chance of a lifetime. One thing is sure, nothing in life is really certain. Why not be the one to set the direction of your life in the path you want it. Take the risk or lose the chance.
What does take the risk or lose the chance mean?
Taking risk means not knowing what could be the outcome of a situation but also still willing to take a step forward towards the unknown. Take Frank Abagnale as an example, he was only 19 years old when he became a millionaire. Running away from home at the age of 16, from his parents’ divorce, Frank found a way from merely surviving to thriving, moving from place to place, living in a different city every other month. In the course of 5 years, he managed to become a pilot, a doctor, a lawyer, a teacher, all without formal certification or training. Frank getting what he wanted out of his situation is almost too good to be true for an average Joe. And he did it successfully for 5 years straight from age 16 to 21, all by taking a risk and not allowing his situation the opportunity to let him lose the chance.
Taking the risk.
Although he was a con artist, one who forged false checks, and an impostor. He was commended for his outstanding ability to think on his feet and take bold actions. I think he's getting away from dire circumstances has a lot to do with taking calculated risks. How did Frank do it? Imagine for a moment what it would be like to be in Frank’s shoes, he lied about his age and years of experience to become a pilot at PanAm airline.
Under such extreme pressure, he managed to get through the eyes of scrutiny and learned things quick enough about the profession without raising any more suspicion. Frank himself said, he took the risk to call people who worked in the airline industry, pretended to be a student doing interviews for his high school’s news, and learned all about the airline jargon and how they operated.
Why Take the Risk?
He did all this and got in the cockpit because he took the risk to ask for what he wanted. If for a moment, you were put in Frank’s situation, and you started to overthink. Your brain running through many possible consequences and made up scenarios where you could fail, then you would probably end up not taking that risk anymore. That’s when you would lose the chance. Sometimes opportunities come striking and we have to make a lightning decision to take that opportunity. We don’t have to put ourselves into extreme cases like Frank with the possibility of facing the sentence, taking on such high risks. Opportunities come in different shapes and when they do, visualize yourself in Frank Abagnale’s situation, see how he was not afraid to ask and still took the risk. If he had not taken the risk he would have lost his chance and he might not have the type of life he has now.
